Emergency Coverage Cooperative (Co-op)
B.W. Furlong & Associates and Mountain Pointe Equine Veterinary Services have partnered to create a rotating Emergency Coverage Cooperative for our New Jersey practices. This collaboration allows us to provide uninterrupted, high-quality emergency care while supporting the well-being and sustainability of our veterinarians.
By sharing emergency responsibilities, we can maintain the same standard of care our clients expect while ensuring our veterinarians have healthier, more balanced schedules.
How It Works
- Evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage will rotate between veterinarians from both practices.
- All participating veterinarians work collaboratively and share a strong level of professional trust.
- This program does not replace your routine veterinarian or scheduled care.
Emergency Co-Op Coverage Radius
In the Event of an Emergency:
- On the next business day, your regular veterinarian will be fully updated on the emergency and treatments provided.
- Medical records will be transferred promptly to the primary practice.
- Ongoing care will immediately return to your routine veterinarian.
This cooperative ensures your horse receives timely emergency care without disruption, while preserving the trusted relationship you have with your primary veterinary team.
- Clients should continue to call their regular veterinarian’s emergency number. You may be connected with an answering service or directly with the veterinarian on call.
- The on-call veterinarian will diagnose, stabilize, treat, triage, consult, or refer the horse exactly as your regular veterinarian would.
- Emergency fees are due at the time of service and paid directly to the practice providing care. A verbal estimate can be provided in advance upon request.
